If you’re looking for a quick, flavorful, and tender steak dish, this Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is exactly what you need. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or when you want something restaurant-quality at home!

Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 large onion, sliced

1 bell pepper (any color), sliced

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening sauce)

2 tablespoons water

Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic or ginger, minced

Instructions

1. Marinate the steak

In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and black pepper. Let it sit for at least 10–15 minutes for maximum flavor.

2. Prepare the veggies

Slice the onion and bell pepper into thin strips. If using garlic or ginger, have it minced and ready.

3. Cook the steak

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.

Add the marinated steak and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak and set aside.

4. Sauté the vegetables

In the same pan, add the onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.

5. Combine & serve

Return the steak to the pan and mix well with the vegetables.

If you want a slightly thickened sauce, mix cornstarch with water and pour over the steak, cooking for another minute.

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

Tips & Tricks

Slice the steak thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
