How to Cook a Sweet Potato in the Microwave

I am so lucky that I have stumbled upon this amazing way of cooking potatoes using my microwave. I don’t have an oven so this is perfect! I have read that it also takes less time to cook compared to baking them in the oven. I should say that I love the texture of the potatoes and the nutrients are retained when you microwave them. If you have an oven and a microwave, you can experiment on both baking machines and see the difference! Anyway, potatoes will always be delicious as long as you cook them right and not overcooked or raw. When serving the potatoes, I always serve them with butter, salt, and pepper. They don’t need anything else if you ask me. As simple as those three ingredients, you will have a meal to remember! Give this method a try, friends, and feel free to experiment on it. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

Sweet potato(es)

Fork

Microwave-safe plate

Butter, olive oil, and seasoning

Directions:

Step 1: Wash and make sure to remove all the dirt off the potatoes.

Step 2: Pat dry the potatoes.

Step 3: Rub olive oil all over and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Poke small holes on the potatoes using a fork. This will help with the moisture when they are cooking.

Step 5: Transfer the oiled and seasoned potatoes on a prepared microwavable-plate.

Step 6: Heat one potato for 5 minutes on 100% power. Add the potatoes and heat for another 2 minutes for each addition.

Step 7: Heat for 1 more minute until the potatoes are fork-tender.

Step 8: Remove the potatoes from the microwave and slice them lengthwise.

Step 9: Serve and enjoy!

Notes:

You can serve the potatoes with salt, pepper, butter, and brown sugar.

You can also top them with the sugar-cinnamon-butter mixture.
