School Lunchroom Cafeteria Rolls

These rolls are so good! I am so glad that I learned how to bake them. It is perfect for snacks and even lunch. Just make a sandwich out of it and that’s it! What I love about this recipe of rolls is the soft texture. I’ve had some rolls that are not soft, rather they are tough to chew but not this. Just make sure not to overcook them to get that nice and perfect texture. Enjoy!

3 cups warm water

1 tablespoon white sugar

⅔ cup white sugar

3 (.25 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast

¼ cup milk

2 large eggs eggs

1 tablespoon salt

10 cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup shortening

¼ cup butter, melted

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, pour in warm water and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved completely.

Step 2: Sprinkle the yeast over and allow it to stand for 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

Step 3: Add in the eggs, milk, and salt into the bowl with the yeast. Stir until well blended.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, add the flour and 2/3 cup of sugar. Add in the shortening and mix using your fingers.

Step 5: Add in the flour into the wet ingredients moderately then mix using a wooden spoon until it starts to form like a ball throughout the spoon.

Step 9: Cut the dough into 2-inch squares using a knife or any blade that can cut through.

Step 10: Roll the squares and form small balls. Place them on the greased pan leaving 1-inch space between each ball.

Step 11: Let the balls sit on the pans to rise. You could also put it inside the fridge and leave ti their overnight if you have time.

Step 12: Ready the oven and preheat to 400 degrees F.

Step 13: Place the pans inside the preheated oven and bake for 12 minutes or until the color turns golden brown.

Step 14: Remove from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool.

Step 15: Serve and enjoy!
